Compare Campervan & RV Hire in New York

The Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, NYC –New York City is easily one of the most famous cities on the planet, and not just home to millions of people (20.2 million according to the last census) but is also visited by thousands of people each and every year with a NY campervan hire.

A beating heart of the arts, business, commerce, and history in the United States, New York City is one of the most influential cities on the planet as well, and that’s what draws so many people to it each day.

If you’re going to be spending any amount of time in New York in your RV rental, you’ll find there is plenty to do – so much that it’s going to be almost impossible for you to do and see everything you want unless you are planning to stay in New York for a couple of years!

In 1609, English explorer Henry Hudson “rediscovered” the area that would become New York as he was busy working his way up what would later become known as the Hudson River. Dutch outposts were situated where Manhattan is today known (then referred to as new Amsterdam), and it wasn’t until 1664 that the English took control of the region and started to establish more permanent structures.

New York played a critical role in both the American Revolution and the American Civil War, and by 1860 it was quickly becoming one of the most populated cities in America and rapidly expanded right on through the 1900s. Skyscrapers began going up left and right, creating the cityscape that we know today, and by the time 1930 rolled around New York was considered the “center of the universe – not just for America, but for the rest of the world (especially as far as business and commerce was concerned).

Today, New York is not only home to major financial institutions – Wall Street is located here, after all – but it’s also home to amazing arts programs, the Broadway region, major sports teams in all of the big professional readings, and more culture, places to eat, and places to stay (not to mention history to take in) than maybe any other city on the planet.

With New York RV rental, there is so much to do. It would be easier to list the things that you aren’t able to do in New York City than it is to list all of the things you are going to be able to do, simply because this city is home to so much.

History buffs are going to be able to visit the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Natural History, the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Central terminal, Ellis Island, the Empire State building – and the list goes on and on.

Those looking to take in the arts will have the opportunity to visit Broadway (home to maybe the best live acting anywhere in the world today, a myriad of theatres, plays, and other organized art installations all over the city, as well as concerts and smaller shows at numerous venues the city each and every single day.

Nightlife is top-notch in New York City (as you would expect). After all, New York City is called the city that never sleeps – and there’s a real and verifiable reason behind that nickname. You’ll find great bars, watering holes, and speakeasies on every corner, nightclubs and jazz bars everywhere you turn, and plenty of late-night activities to take in whenever you feel up to it.

No trip to New York would be complete without checking out Central Park and all the amazing beauty and splendour it brings to this otherwise concrete jungle. It seems almost inconceivable that so much natural landscape could be packed into one of the world’s biggest and most highly developed cities, but that’s exactly what you’re going to see and enjoy when you step foot in Central Park.

The claimant of New York City is classified as a humid subtropical climate, making it the northernmost major city in North America that has this designation. About 234 days a year are going to see at least some sunshine, but expect winters to get really cold, really damp, and anything but enjoyable.

Summertime and the fall is the best time of year to visit New York, though if you visit in July or August you should expect some pretty hot summers and quite a bit of humidity. Indian summers can bleed into September and even October, though fall in the city is something that you definitely don’t want to miss out on.

While you may want to miss out on winter in New York for the most part, nothing – and we mean NOTHING – beats experiencing a New York City Christmas time. There’s just something about this time of year when the city really starts to come alive, when New Yorkers and their famous attitude kind of disappears for two or three weeks, and the whole city is blanketed in snow and Christmas cheer – something you’ll have to experience for sure.

Driving your hired campervan or RV in New York City is definitely not advised, just because of how deadlocked and tough traffic can be to navigate in New York City – and that’s when you’re driving a regular sized vehicle as opposed to an extra long campervan or RV!

You also won’t find too many places to park your RV your campervan inside New York City limits, though just outside of the city (close to public transportation so that you aren’t ever more than 15 minutes out of NYC) you’ll find plenty of places to park your campervan.

Here are some of the locations you want to look into!

  • Liberty Harbor RV Park
  • Black Bear Campground
  • New York City North Koa
  • Battle Road Campground
  • Camp Getaway – Staten Island
  • Camp Getaway – Brooklyn
  • Deer Park New York City Koa

… And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

Obviously, there are other places you’ll have the opportunity to park your NY campervan hire or RV – especially just over the river in New Jersey – the ones we highlighted above should be amongst your first picks.
